Does the NBCA Land Use/Zoning Committee have the final say over what can be built?

No, at the beginning of each meeting the Chair makes the following statement:

“On behalf of NBCA, our Committee reviews and renders recommendations to applications referred to us by the City Bureau of Planning, and/or NPU-B.

We act as a recommending body to NPU-B and to the Bureau of Planning. We also provide reports to the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA), the Zoning Review Board (ZRB), the Subdivision Review Board and other authorizing bodies as the issues may require.

Our primary function in the permitting process is to provide neighborhood perspective to applications. We invite the participation of residents of the area and we include that in our reports and recommendations.”
